Image of LASU school entrance

The Lagos State University (LASU) announced its cut-off mark for the 2024/2025 admission screening exercise. To be eligible for screening, you need to have scored at least 195 in the UTME exams.

If you are curious about the LASU screening cut-off mark for all courses, this article will provide all the information you need about LASU admission.

About LASU

LASU is a public university. The Lagos state assembly passed a legislature in 1983 that established LASU. The school runs on the vision of achieving academic excellence and advancement in learning through research, teaching, and learning.

LASU is located in Ojo Lagos state. The University has about 35,000 full-time students.

How does LASU calculate their cut-off marks?

LASU uses an aggregate score to determine students who are granted admission in a given year. LASU aggregate score for all courses is calculated from your UTME and SSCE results.

The UTME score constitutes 50% of the aggregate score and the O’level result equally constitutes 50%. The particular subjects from your O’level that would be used to calculate this are your five main subjects (Which include Mathematics, English, and three other subjects).

To get the aggregate score, you have to divide your UTME score by 8 (400/8) to get the value for the first 50%.

So for example, if a student scores 290 in his UTME, that is reflected as 290/8 = 36.25. This translates into 36.25% out of 50%.

For the other 50%, the O’level results, here’s the grading system used.

S/NO’ Level GradePoint
1A110
2B29
3B38
4C47
5C56
6C65

The total is summed up and scored over 50.

For example, if a prospective medical student had the following result;

Mathematics- B2

English- A1

Physics- C4

Biology- B2

Chemistry- C5

His score is = 9+10+7+9+6= 41/50

The two scores (UTME and O’level) are added together to get the aggregate which is then used to determine the cut-off mark.

Note that having anything below C6 in any of your 5 main subjects would disqualify you from participating in the screening exercise.
